The Farm

I really enjoyed the opportunity to visit a large scale farm that was importing cucumbers, squash, and pickles to the United States. It was interesting that they have to use only the products that are allowed to be used on farms in the United States. They told us that they have USDA inspectors that come down from the United States to make sure that they are using the appropriate pesticides. I also enjoyed eating lunch with the workers who work there. The food was surprisingly very good. All of the workers spoke Mayan which is very different from Spanish. Overall it was a very informative trip to see how they do business and just to see a large scale farm in action that produces the very products that we eat in the U.S.
